As a region with more active development of lithium-ion batteries in the world, the market scale of lithium-ion batteries is increasing year by year. New energy vehicles are the larger engines driving the rapid growth of lithium-ion batteries. The demand for lithium-ion batteries in the energy storage market is also expected to accelerate. In addition to meeting domestic demand, it will also be exported to Europe, America, Australia, Southeast Asia and other places in batches.

Countries all over the world attach great importance to the development of the lithium-ion battery industry. Japan's Panasonic and South Korea's LG New Energy, as the two major lithium-ion battery manufacturers second only to China's Ningde era, expect to occupy a higher market share. The "Battery Strategic Action Plan" issued by the European Commission in May 2018 proposes a long-term research plan for battery technology in the next ten years-"BATTERY 2030". Its vision is to invent the battery of the future and create a disruptive technology for European industry and a competitive advantage across the value chain. BATTERY 2030 will pursue ultra-high-performance, reliable, sustainable and affordable batteries through interdisciplinary research methods, using excellent technologies such as artificial intelligence, robotics, sensors and intelligent systems.

According to the "Technical Roadmap for Energy Saving and New Energy Vehicles" issued by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the energy density target for power batteries is 500Wh/kg in 2030. At present, the energy density of NCM ternary batteries with higher energy density is only 250-300Wh/kg. Improving the content of nickel in ternary batteries is expected to further improve the energy density, but at the same time it will affect its performance, how to improve the energy density without affecting its * * is an important problem to be solved. The poor performance of low-temperature batteries in winter has always been a pain point for lithium-ion batteries, and the development of all-climate batteries that can adapt to low-temperature environments is also a development direction for lithium-ion batteries in the future. At the same time, it is necessary to improve its cycle life and reduce its cost as much as possible. These are future research hotspots.
